The "Urban Air Mobility Market is projected to grow from USD 2.6 billion in 2022 to USD 28.3 billion by 2030. The increasing demand for an alternative mode of transportation in urban mobility for commercial applications and technological innovations in unmanned technology are the major factors driving the market.  Similarly, the global market for eVTOL aircraft is estimated to be USD 8.5 million in 2021 and is projected to reach USD 30.8 million by 2030.  The Europe urban air mobility market is projected to grow at 19%  during the forecast period. ARP 4754 in general discusses the development of aircraft systems taking into account the overall aircraft operating environment and functions. This includes validation of requirements and verification of the design implementation for certification and product assurance. It provides practices for showing compliance with the regulations and serves to assist a company in developing and meeting its own internal standards by considering the guidelines herein.

The current trend in system development is an increasing level of integration between aircraft functions and the systems that implement them. While there can be considerable value gained when integrating systems with other systems, the increased complexity yields increased possibilities for errors, particularly with functions that are performed jointly across multiple systems. To respond to this, the use of the ARP4754/ED-79 in aircraft certification has become increasingly widespread.

Revision B is primarily focused on the necessary updates to align its contents with ARP4761A/ED-135. While the general principles of FDAL/IDAL assignment were retained in ARP4754B/ED-79B, the details of FDAL/IDAL assignment activities were transferred to ARP4761A/ED-135. The same approach was adopted for all safety assessment process contents in ARP4754B/ED-79B. The Development and verification of airborne software has long been seen as costly and inefficient.  Agile development methodology promises for efficient and cost-effective software development, but can it be applied to aerospace software development in way that can meet the design assurance objectives required by the airworthiness regulations?  The Design Assurance guidance of DO-178C does not prescribe any specific development process, and you can use any development process you like so long as the objectives of DO-178C are met.  However, the design assurance guidance does provide some objectives that could make the pure application of development processes like Agile more difficult.
