Functional Hazards

FHA Analysis

We perform Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) is to identify functions, failure conditions of functions (loss of function, malfunction, etc.), and their classification (catastrophic, hazardous, etc.) so that aircraft and system designs may be proposed and achieved.
FHA Output Data includes: Function List , Failure Conditions , Effect of the Failure Condition on the Aircraft, Flight Crew, and Occupants, Classification of the Failure Condition, Verification Method.

PSSA/SSA Analysis

PSSA analyses is performed during the system requirements and item requirements phases of the aircraft life cycle. The PSSA is where the proposed aircraft and system architectures are evaluated and defined; this provides the ability to derive system and item safety requirements.
The documents produced during the PSSA are the updated aircraft and system FHAs, updated aircraft and systems FTAs, and the preliminary system Common Cause Analyses (CCAs).
The PSSA is a continuous and iterative process. The SSA verifies that the implemented aircraft and system designs meet the requirements of the aircraft FHA and the PSSA.

Reliability & Prediction Analysis

Reliability Calculations

Reliability calculations are based on electrical/thermal stress analysis. The output is a report with a breakdown of MTBF and MTBCF figures per system, unit, board and component levels.

Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)

ARP 4761 Fault Tree Analysis and event tree analysis are two of the most mature and versatile methods for dealing with probabilistic risk, reliability and availability issues.
Including software in a system Fault Tree Analysis or quantitative hazard analysis is essential in software-heavy systems. Not only does Software fail, it is often included as a mitigation element to hardware failures. A system analysis is incomplete without including the software elements and the interfaces between software and hardware.

FMEA/FMECA Analysis

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is an engineering technique for identification and elimination of known and/or potential problems within a system.
FMEA is an ongoing process that should begin as part of the first design review and continue throughout the life of the product.
